Additional Information
Anticipated to graduate from Doctorate of Dental Surgery program in May 2020. Looking to practice general dentistry under the leadership of a mentor dentist with aspirations to eventually buy into the practice. Strong interest in anterior esthetics, fixed prosthodontics, and restorative dentistry. Well-versed in all aspects of dentistry with strengths in composite restorations, fixed prosthodontics, endodontics, and strong patient care. Responds well to stressful situations, diverse patient populations, while treating all patients with respect, and fostering personalized genuine relationships. Seeking to join an office of open-minded individuals who share my passion for patient-centered care, efficiency, and are open to innovative dentistry.
Growing up in a small town where most individuals never leave home, I had to work incredibly hard to get to where I am today. This being said, I am confident that I will be able to navigate the obstacles that will arise in private practice. Additionally, my background also has kept me reliable for my actions and has taught me that I must act ethically in all situations. Reliability and being ethically sound are two characteristics that are important to treating patients. In my practice, I plan on not only staying accountable for my actions to earn respect from my patients, but also from my colleagues. Building strong, meaningful relationships and having a sincere demeanor is something I take pride in. Also, keeping an ethically sound state of mind will help me properly treat my patients and assess all situations using the principles of beneficence, non-maleficence, justice, and respect.
Before entering the dental program at The University of Missouri-Kansas City, I was employed as a surgical assistant for four years while attending Fort Hays State University for my Bachelor of Science. This experience helped me further develop my interpersonal skills, feel more comfortable in high-stress situations, and learn how to work in a changing environment. Additionally, over the past several years, I have volunteered for a variety of dental organizations. These experiences have shown me how important it is that I find an office and team who share my values and morals. I was also chosen to work as a temporary dental assistant for a summer, where I was able to travel around and observe the environment of many different dental clinics, as well as work with individuals of all backgrounds. This job showed me how important it is to treat staff members respectfully and to create meaningful relationships with not only patients, but office members as well. Finally, in dental school, I have the privilege of being a teacher’s assistant for a second year Fixed Prosthodontics lab, as well as serve as the Vice President of the Women’s Dental Association. These opportunities to serve the community have helped transform me into the effective, passionate leader I am today.
Currently I am CPR, OSHA, and HIPPA certified. After receiving my DDS degree, I plan to complete continuing education courses to place implants, and stay up-to-date on the latest dental technology.
