To own a FFS practice with an emphasis on cosmetics/smile design leveraging digital technology to deliver the best possible clinical outcomes in a modern and comfortable setting. I want to have a reputation for exquisite clinical and esthetic work and impeccable ethics in the community where I practice.
I am extremely passionate about clinical dentistry and I feel this passion is contagious and inspiring to my team and to my patients. This passion is part of what feeds my drive to become the best possible clinician and leader I can be. My passion is met by a work ethic that is innate but fueled by the respect that I have for clinical dentistry and my desire to always be improving. I am obsessive and compulsive about my work and follow clinical protocols exactly to ensure that I am acting to improve the oral health of my patients with anything I do. Further, at my core, I am an artist. I have been working with my hands to create ever since I can remember. My background as a musician and visual artist lends has helped my manual dexterity and my eye. Having an "OCD" personality type and natural talent in the arts has given me a special appreciation for the art and science of dentistry.
I would say that to an extent, there is something of a blurred line between my professional and personal characteristics. I feel that the passion that motivates me to better my clinical skills and treat dentistry as a profession, and not merely a business, is infectious and is the basis for my leadership style. In my experience, people tend to believe in you when they see that you care deeply about their work. Patients can tell and so can the staff.Over the last 3 years I have learned how to connect with patients of different backgrounds, personalities, and life circumstances. Patient communication, as well as expectation management, is a critical aspect to the patient experience and therefore the overall well being of a dental practice. Though my social skills have always been an asset, my experiences interacting with patients since I have been in practice has sharpened my ability to read people. Dealing with a patient's dental phobias, explaining a treatment plan to a patient with a low dental IQ (or even a very high dental IQ); whatever the situation, it can sometimes be challenging to communicate the value of dental health and dental treatment.Empathy is another personal characteristic that helps me in the practice of dentistry. Even as an associate dentist, I have felt an element of ownership in all that I do and have seen myself as a leader. After excellent clinical outcomes, I tend to think about keeping everyone around me happy. Are my assistants happy? Is the patient happy? Is the hygienist happy? Is the front office happy? I want to feed others before I feed myself. This is the only way I know how to keep the morale of the team healthy and I firmly believe that the health of a team is directly correlated to the success of a practice.
During college I served on the student government, tutored statistics, and graduated with honors. In dental school I focused my efforts on developing my clinical skills and realizing the type of dentistry I wanted to pursue.
