My ultimate career objective is to one day own and run a dental practice using innovation as a key to success. I want to have great rapport and relationships with my patients while providing them with the care they individually need.
I was a varsity student athlete in swimming throughout my undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University (Columbus, OH), which taught me discipline, time management, perseverance and consistency to strive to improve myself. I was selected to represent my college in several swimming competitions such as the Olympic Trials and Big Ten Conference while also maintaining my job as a Resident Advisor and academics in which I received the Scholar Athlete award every year. Dental school further helped shape me into a medical professional. I had many challenges thrown my way and no matter what they were, I was able to overcome and rise above them.
I was diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in my third year of dental school and had to take a medical leave of absence while I underwent treatment. Although it was a terrifying experience, my successful recovery gave me an improved outlook on life and furthermore enabled me to return to my pursuit of dentistry stronger than ever. I refused to let that diagnosis define and prevent me from achieving my life goals. I am truly passionate about dentistry and this experience further solidified my love of healthcare and the compassion, empathy and understanding that is essential when treating patients. I am highly motivated and eager to learn and take on new tasks. I am ready to work hard and go above and beyond expectations to be an asset at a dental practice and provide the best possible care for my patients.
